I’ve got spring fever like woah. I’m so sick of wearing sweaters, so today, in protest, despite the fact that it’s 40 degrees outside, I’m wearing a sleeveless top.

It’s the first day of spring, and of my spring break no. 2! I was pretty bummed since I was supposed to be in Florida by tomorrow, but it didn’t work out. So today, I’m bringing Florida to me, and it’s working out nicely. This is mostly due to the fact that I’m pretty skilled at selective denial. It’s something I’ve worked hard at over the years and today it’s coming in handy. In my mind it’s at least 70 degrees today. I’m listening to Jack’s Mannequin, which screams summer to me, and I’m about to finish up packing and head to Starbucks to do a little reading for pleasure before I have to go to seminar. Heck, I may even go all out and get an iced drink while I’m there. I urge you all to join me in my delusions. Put on a tank top and slather on some sunscreen, it’s a beautiful day!

Gotta go find my sunglasses. Happy spring. :)

Yesterday I went to the doctor and spent 50 dollars on prescription medications, one of which was cough syrup with codeine. My doctor, a plump, rosy-cheeked Russian woman, told me “I give you night-time cough syrup. Has codeine. Will knock you out. Take two hours before bedtime. Why? So you can function in morning.” So last night, I heeded her warning, and even though I wasn’t tired yet took the cough syrup at 11:00. By 11:40 I was in a coma, and I did not stir until noon this afternoon. It was amazing.

With the sleep provided by my prescription cough syrup I was able to get a lot done today. I spent 8 hours on homework, most of it on my “grade level portfolio.” The terrible thing is I emailed it all out for feedback tonight and I know from experience that I’m just going to be doing it all over again come Wednesday or so.

I wish I had something more exciting to say, but it’s an extremely busy time in my life, which translates into quite boring for anyone who doesn’t want to listen to me drone on about school or chasing toddlers around at work.

Okay, time for sweet, blissful, drug-induced sleep.

 Since we have been abroad we have missed you all so much. Certain events have compelled us to extend our travels. One day, when you are older, you will learn all about the people we have befriended and the dangers we have faced. At times the world can seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe us when we say that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may, in fact, be the first steps of a journey. We hope to have you back in our arms soon, darlings, but in case this letter arrives before our return, know that we love you. It fills us with pride to know that no matter what happens in this life that you three will take care of each other with kindness and bravery and selflessness, as you always have. And remember one thing, my darlings, and never forget it- that no matter where we are, know that as long as you have each other, you have your family, and you are home.

So, I’ve been really busy for the past few weeks.

I did find time to waste on this tonight, though. I laaauughed and laughed.

Five finals next week. Blah. Bless Mr. Reuss who decided not to give us an assistive tech final, or it would have been six.

So I’m going into finals week, and I’ll finish just in time to have me wisdom teeth extracted on the 17th. I’m absolutely terrified.

And now I’m exhausted. Goodnight.

I randomly clicked the “surf tags” feature here on WordPress, and two separate entries that came up were dedicated solely to the description of a visit from a sister. I’m so sad.

Four more days.

It would be three, except I have to go to an ASL silent social on Friday night, which doesn’t put me in Dayton until midnight. It should be fun, but I’m angry just the same.

Also, I found out today that the signs for “work” and “sex” are alarmingly similar. Woops.

We have fall break this week, so I have no class on Thursday and Friday.

I’m so ready for it. I’m still scrambling to get everything done so I don’t have to worry about anything while I’m home, since I haven’t seen my family in over six weeks.

Except my brain decided that fall break started today at abouut…oh, noon.
And I was like “No, brain. We’re in assistive technology class, pay attention.”
And my brain was like “Whatever. He can’t see your screen. It’s been far too long since you read overheardinnewyork.com.”
And then I got home from work and I was like “Okay, brain. Time to work on that grant award spreadsheet.”
And my brain was like “Forget that! Let’s go to Walmart!”
Tomorrow should be interesting.

On the plus side, I did buy Roseanne season 8. Woohoo!

I had a four shots of espresso at about 9:30, in addition to the three I had this afternoon. I’ve decided that is far too many shots for one day. I feel like my eyelids are spring-loaded. On the plus side, though, I had a very productive evening because of it. I did all my laundry and cleaned and disinfected my whole room. Seriously, you can smell the Lysol and Anti-microbial Febreeze down the hall. I feel it necessary, though, considering my working conditions. There’s no telling what I’m bringing home. I also made my lunch for tomorrow, and printed and organized all my study guides/lecture outlines for the next week. ::pats self on back::

I have to be at work at 8 in the morning. I’m giving the parking police one last chance to not give me a ticket, then I’m…well, I’m probably going to suck it up and pay them. They start ticketing the lot outside my building at either 7 or 8, I can’t remember. Yesterday morning I had to work at 9, so I figured…suuurely, they won’t ticket me before I have to leave. Not only did they ticket me, but it’s a $25 ticket, instead of a $10 ticket like the previous two. (I found out the hard way that leaving the ticket on the window while you sit at an expired meter will not, in fact, prevent you from receiving a second ticket.) I just think it’s silly that I can’t park outside my building for an hour in the morning. Say I have to be at work at 9. If I park outside my building I can get up at say…8:15, and be at work on time. If I park in lot 6 I have to leave my building at 8:15 to get to work on time. It’s a serious waste of sleeping time. They should be a little more considerate, I think. So tomorrow I work at 8. I hadn’t planned on testing my luck again this week, but I forgot to take my car out to lot 6 and I really don’t feel like spending 30-45 minutes doing that right now.

I’m very excited that my very favorite people (minus only a couple) are coming to spend the weekend with me.

10. I’m almost positive I earned a 4.0 this semester. Still waiting on one exam grade, but I felt pretty good about it. (ETA: Just heard back on the exam! Got it!)

9. I start at Primrose on Tuesday. I’m co-teaching in the Explorer’s club, which is the school-age kids. It’s just about the easiest and best job in the world. The kids are so sweet, and we go on field trips. Lots of ‘em.

8. I just downloaded the new version of iTunes, and darn if there isn’t a converter on it! That’s what I get for refusing to change all these months.

7. I get to see Wicked this summer! Twice!

4. Battlestar Galactica season 2 is FINALLY being released in one package. T-minus four days.

2. Nickel Creek’s final tour this summer! I’ll be going to a show in KY…with special guest Glen Phillips. I’ve never seen Nickel Creek live, and I’ve only seen Glen once during the Toad reunion tour in…’03, I think. Suuuuper excited!

1. As of this time next year I will be Studying abroad at Keele University in England! About halfway between Birmingham and Manchester. (Home of Dominic Monaghan, btw. Let the stalking begin.) The entire month of April is spring break, so I’ll be traveling around Europe! Yay for new experiences! Yay for traveling! (And yay for British boys!)

Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever used so many exclamation points in one entry.

One of my most favorite things is when my friends send me text messages for no other reason than to say they were thinking about me. I recieved two of those today, and so it was an especially good day. :)

Two of the friends I saw Rent with for the first time, unbeknownst to each other, were at the same performance of Rent tonight. They each separately, but within ten minutes of each other, sent me a text message to say they were thinking of me. I assumed they were together, but they didn’t run into each other until after the performace. It was karma in action. It made me very happy. I’m reminded of how wonderful my friends are, despite how little time we get to spend together.
