I’ve been avoiding listening to any live cuts from the new Alanis album. Well, Underneath and Not as We don’t count because they’ve been available for…well, 7 months and 1 year respectively. But since she started playing some new songs on the MB20 tour I haven’t been listening on purpose. I just want to hear the new songs fresh in good quality when the album comes out…I’m building suspense, you know. But she filmed this Yahoo thing on the 24th, so I had to check it out. And she did one I hadn’t heard but I figured since it was an official video it would be okay to cheat and watch it. It’s called Incomplete. All I can say is that she continues to amaze me.

Kudos to MTV for all of their coverage of the Twilight movie thus far, and for posting the very first official promo video from Summit. This is by far the best thing I’ve ever seen.

 

If I’d never heard of Twilight I think I would want to see the movie based on that video. There’s fighting and evil and love and superhuman strength and blood and more love and baseball. Basically everything you need for a good story.

Yesterday I was able to look at pictures of the Twilight movie set. (Lexicon.)

I’ve now officially seen Bella’s truck, Charlie’s police cruiser, Carlisle’s Mercedes, Emmet’s Jeep, Edward’s Volvo (I peed a little), Forks High, and the baseball diamond. I’m so excited. It’s just as exciting as if they were actual characters just cast. I’m particularly excited about the baseball diamond because to me it looks perfectly as I imagined it.

Then today I did something I almost never do. I was on such a high from the pictures yesterday that when I saw a clip of the filming, I couldn’t resist clicking on it. It’s a kind of far away angle, but it’s of the scene directly after the crash. So I’ve now officially seen Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen. (Holy smokes.) But it raised one question, which I’ll cut in case someone doesn’t want to know anything that might be spoilery.

Okay, in this clip, after the accident, Edward runs away. Now he looks mighty fine doing it, hopping up on the truck and all, but this is not how it happened. I tried to dismiss this and not be too picky, but it’s just that the fact that he stays with Bella after the accident is a very big deal. Well, not that in itself, but one of the main reasons he begins to trust her is that she keeps her promise to not tell anyone that he went all Superman on her. (Or Spiderman I guess, which at this point was her theory.) If in the movie he runs away before the crowd gathers, and no one sees him there, as it looks in this clip…well, that’s not going to work. If no one asks Bella how the heck he got there so fast, she has no promise to keep to him, and thus he, no reason to trust her. And if they cut the entire scene of her making this promise I may be angry. I’m not worried yet, I’m just…curious.

I hadn’t been to the theater in ages, but I plan to go again very soon for Lars and the Real Girl.

That’s all I have to say, really. That and I’m delighted be wearing the most comfortable pajamas and hoodie I could find, and settling in for my probably hundredth viewing of Taking the Stone.

And I don’t know why no one told me before now, but huzzah to Farscape webisodes!

Well, the Underneath video has been removed from Youtube due to a copyright claim from Warner Bros. Records. Blah! It did hit almost 10,000 views in just the three days it was up, though. :)

Also, recently added to Youtube is the Charlie Rose interview from ‘99. Not a real exciting interview overall. She seems painfully uncomfortable much of the time. It’s really only notable, to me anyway, because this is the interview where she talks about her experience with Catholicism and throwing the God baby out with the bath water, which I think is brilliant. (Around 23 min 30 sec, Bran.)

A second Charlie Rose video I’m happy is available is this one with PJ, Elijah, and Viggo, filmed around the release of TTT. I had this on VHS somewhere, but it’s long gone now, and we all know I could watch these guys for days. :) The LotR portion of the show begins around 17 min.

Today (well, yesterday now, technically) Stephenie Meyer announced that Summit has officially signed director Catherine Hardwicke and writer Melissa Rosenberg for the Twilight movie. I have nothing to say about either of those two women except that Catherine Hardwicke wrote Thirteen, which I loved. However, Melissa Rosenberg wrote for the O.C. And we all know how I feel about The O.C. I’m excited, if a little apprehensive.

Class has started, and thus the ritual internet searching form of procrastinating.

 Which brings me to the good news. There is going to be a City of Ember movie! Yay!

Bill Murray has been cast as the mayor of Ember, and Tim Robbins has been cast as…well, it doesn’t say, but I like him. Lina and Doon are actors I don’t recognize, Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway. But Saoirse Ronan was also recently cast as Susie Salmon in The Lovely Bones, so I doubly hope she’s good.

I’m very excited.

I just finished with my last exam for the semester. I’m positively giddy. I’m celebrating with a turkey and swiss frescata from Wendy’s.

Also, the Mythbusters just busted the myth about the suction of a sinking boat being strong enough to suck someone underwater. This is going to make viewing Titanic much less enjoyable. Sorry Jamie and Adam, but I’m officially blocking this from my memory as of….now.

I have a ridiculous amount of work to do before next Friday. One thing was a movie of my “literacy history.” I spent all of last night and the majority of today working on it, and I am sooo happy it’s done. I don’t know whether or not I’m ready to show the world myself in a Frodo costume or my dramatic reading skills, but I’m so relieved to be done with it that I’m posting it anyway.

In finalization some of the text changed size for no apparent reason, but by that time I was so ready to be done I just said it looks fine. And when I uploaded it to youtube for some reason the audio got about a full beat ahead of the video, and I have no idea why. It takes away some of the coolness factor of the part I spent the most time one, but you get the point anyway. I’m pretty happy with it overall considering I’ve never made anything in Movie Maker before.
