I’ve got spring fever like woah. I’m so sick of wearing sweaters, so today, in protest, despite the fact that it’s 40 degrees outside, I’m wearing a sleeveless top.

It’s the first day of spring, and of my spring break no. 2! I was pretty bummed since I was supposed to be in Florida by tomorrow, but it didn’t work out. So today, I’m bringing Florida to me, and it’s working out nicely. This is mostly due to the fact that I’m pretty skilled at selective denial. It’s something I’ve worked hard at over the years and today it’s coming in handy. In my mind it’s at least 70 degrees today. I’m listening to Jack’s Mannequin, which screams summer to me, and I’m about to finish up packing and head to Starbucks to do a little reading for pleasure before I have to go to seminar. Heck, I may even go all out and get an iced drink while I’m there. I urge you all to join me in my delusions. Put on a tank top and slather on some sunscreen, it’s a beautiful day!

Gotta go find my sunglasses. Happy spring. :)

I awoke this morning to find that sometime during the night my fellow residents had fashioned a large penis out of snow, complete with branches of a shrub protruding from its foundation. I went to bed at midnight, the lawn was clear. I awoke at 7:30, and it was adorned with phallic snow sculptures. I would truly like to know when, between the hours of midnight and 7:30, my fellow undergraduates find the time to assert such ingenuity. I would like to know which course of study at this fine university affords such idle time. Were I to have more than 24 weeks of undergraduate coursework before me, I would give serious consideration to a change in program- though I would spend my leisure on more respectable projects, such as the giant happy snowman erected by our neighboring fraternity house. Or, more likely, more pointless blog entries.

Yesterday I went to the doctor and spent 50 dollars on prescription medications, one of which was cough syrup with codeine. My doctor, a plump, rosy-cheeked Russian woman, told me “I give you night-time cough syrup. Has codeine. Will knock you out. Take two hours before bedtime. Why? So you can function in morning.” So last night, I heeded her warning, and even though I wasn’t tired yet took the cough syrup at 11:00. By 11:40 I was in a coma, and I did not stir until noon this afternoon. It was amazing.

With the sleep provided by my prescription cough syrup I was able to get a lot done today. I spent 8 hours on homework, most of it on my “grade level portfolio.” The terrible thing is I emailed it all out for feedback tonight and I know from experience that I’m just going to be doing it all over again come Wednesday or so.

I wish I had something more exciting to say, but it’s an extremely busy time in my life, which translates into quite boring for anyone who doesn’t want to listen to me drone on about school or chasing toddlers around at work.

Okay, time for sweet, blissful, drug-induced sleep.

Good news! I have finally defeated level 18 of Chip’s Challenge. I am no longer slave to “The Moat.”

I saw Gone Baby Gone tonight. Touche, Mr. Affleck. Touche.

I hadn’t been to the theater in ages, but I plan to go again very soon for Lars and the Real Girl.

That’s all I have to say, really. That and I’m delighted be wearing the most comfortable pajamas and hoodie I could find, and settling in for my probably hundredth viewing of Taking the Stone.

And I don’t know why no one told me before now, but huzzah to Farscape webisodes!

I’m so glad it’s Friday. I have books and clothing scattered all over my floor and I really feel like I should be cleaning that up or doing some homework. But to be honest, I really only feel like curling up under my down blanket and reading, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

I just feel liberated in having decided to be lazy for the remainder of the evening, and felt the need to share.

I just finished talking with my mom for over an hour about random nothingness. We talked about my family, and she listened to me ramble on about my friends. And I am just thinking how lucky I am to have the people that I have in my life.

I just wrote an entire post about how many great friends I have, but I erased it because I think I missed the mark somewhere. I do currently have more people I can depend on in my life than ever before, but numbers is not the point. It’s the people that are the point. And the people are really special, and way more than I deserve, and I just feel really lucky. And that’s not even counting my ever-present unconditionally loving family, immediate and extended.  

This is kind of a cheesy post, but I’m really happy, so I’m going to hit ‘publish’ anyway.

I had a four shots of espresso at about 9:30, in addition to the three I had this afternoon. I’ve decided that is far too many shots for one day. I feel like my eyelids are spring-loaded. On the plus side, though, I had a very productive evening because of it. I did all my laundry and cleaned and disinfected my whole room. Seriously, you can smell the Lysol and Anti-microbial Febreeze down the hall. I feel it necessary, though, considering my working conditions. There’s no telling what I’m bringing home. I also made my lunch for tomorrow, and printed and organized all my study guides/lecture outlines for the next week. ::pats self on back::

I have to be at work at 8 in the morning. I’m giving the parking police one last chance to not give me a ticket, then I’m…well, I’m probably going to suck it up and pay them. They start ticketing the lot outside my building at either 7 or 8, I can’t remember. Yesterday morning I had to work at 9, so I figured…suuurely, they won’t ticket me before I have to leave. Not only did they ticket me, but it’s a $25 ticket, instead of a $10 ticket like the previous two. (I found out the hard way that leaving the ticket on the window while you sit at an expired meter will not, in fact, prevent you from receiving a second ticket.) I just think it’s silly that I can’t park outside my building for an hour in the morning. Say I have to be at work at 9. If I park outside my building I can get up at say…8:15, and be at work on time. If I park in lot 6 I have to leave my building at 8:15 to get to work on time. It’s a serious waste of sleeping time. They should be a little more considerate, I think. So tomorrow I work at 8. I hadn’t planned on testing my luck again this week, but I forgot to take my car out to lot 6 and I really don’t feel like spending 30-45 minutes doing that right now.

I’m very excited that my very favorite people (minus only a couple) are coming to spend the weekend with me.

I’ve spent the past two weeks as a hermit, reading vampire novels. I finally picked up Twilight, and much to my delight there is a sequal, called New Moon. So I’ve not spoken with anyone, basically, since two weeks ago when I bought Twilight and last night when I finished New Moon. I love when I do that.

What made me mention it here, though, is that I’ve also been listening to a lot of Jack’s Mannequin for the past couple weeks, particularly Bruised. And when all you do is read a book and its sequal and listen to the same song over and over again for two whole weeks you can’t help but connect the two, so I’ve been thinking of Bruised as the sort of theme song for the two main characters in the books. (I do that frequently, actually. I haven’t decided if that’s odd or not.) But it couldn’t fit more perfectly, particularly for book two. *coughs*Chapter 3*coughs*

So on to the interesting part. Well, interesting to me, anyway. Here I am, walking around like a zombie doing nothing but think of Bella and Edward and their Jack’s Mannequin anthem. And I stumbled upon the author’s myspace page tonight, and what’s the song she has on her page? Yes, folks, it’s Bruised, by Jack’s Mannequin.

Love it.

Hours pass and she still counts the minutes that I am not there. I swear I didn’t mean for it to feel like this, like every inch of me is bruised! Bruised!

And every word of every song that ever made me wanna stay is what’s playing through the in-flight radio!

10 days until book 3.

Some things I’ve been thinking about:

- Why is it that when I type 843973 on my phone to text, the first word that comes up is “viewse.” Is this even a word? And if so, wouldn’t you think there’s a way to make a more common word (they’re) appear first, as a more likely choice?

- I wonder if the Dougers put cheese in their tater-tot casserole. I just put cheese on mine, and I have to say it improved the taste tenfold.

- I can’t remember what “Katratzi” is.
