T-minus 20 minutes until I pass out.

Yesterday I went to the doctor and spent 50 dollars on prescription medications, one of which was cough syrup with codeine. My doctor, a plump, rosy-cheeked Russian woman, told me “I give you night-time cough syrup. Has codeine. Will knock you out. Take two hours before bedtime. Why? So you can function in morning.” So last night, I heeded her warning, and even though I wasn’t tired yet took the cough syrup at 11:00. By 11:40 I was in a coma, and I did not stir until noon this afternoon. It was amazing.

With the sleep provided by my prescription cough syrup I was able to get a lot done today. I spent 8 hours on homework, most of it on my “grade level portfolio.” The terrible thing is I emailed it all out for feedback tonight and I know from experience that I’m just going to be doing it all over again come Wednesday or so.

I wish I had something more exciting to say, but it’s an extremely busy time in my life, which translates into quite boring for anyone who doesn’t want to listen to me drone on about school or chasing toddlers around at work.

Okay, time for sweet, blissful, drug-induced sleep.

Because 2008 seems like an endless series of unfortunate events…

Dearest children,
Since we have been abroad we have missed you all so much. Certain events have compelled us to extend our travels. One day, when you are older, you will learn all about the people we have befriended and the dangers we have faced. At times the world can seem an unfriendly and sinister place, but believe us when we say that there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough and what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may, in fact, be the first steps of a journey. We hope to have you back in our arms soon, darlings, but in case this letter arrives before our return, know that we love you. It fills us with pride to know that no matter what happens in this life that you three will take care of each other with kindness and bravery and selflessness, as you always have. And remember one thing, my darlings, and never forget it- that no matter where we are, know that as long as you have each other, you have your family, and you are home.
                                                                                Your Loving Parents

And then the water reached the west coast…

Books That Make You Dumb.

This just may be the greatest thing I’ve seen in a while. Top 10 books (via Facebook stats) for each of over 1,000 universities, correlated with that university’s average SAT scores (via Collegeboard), weighted by number of undergraduates at that university. Brilliant.

2008 in a nutshell.

Bummer!

Good news! I have finally defeated level 18 of Chip’s Challenge. I am no longer slave to “The Moat.”

I’m busy, busy. Dreadfully busy.

So, I’ve been really busy for the past few weeks.

I did find time to waste on this tonight, though. I laaauughed and laughed.

Five finals next week. Blah. Bless Mr. Reuss who decided not to give us an assistive tech final, or it would have been six.

So I’m going into finals week, and I’ll finish just in time to have me wisdom teeth extracted on the 17th. I’m absolutely terrified.

And now I’m exhausted. Goodnight.

Must do home…sex?

I randomly clicked the “surf tags” feature here on WordPress, and two separate entries that came up were dedicated solely to the description of a visit from a sister. I’m so sad.

I MISS MY SISTER!!!!! :(

Four more days.

It would be three, except I have to go to an ASL silent social on Friday night, which doesn’t put me in Dayton until midnight. It should be fun, but I’m angry just the same.

Also, I found out today that the signs for “work” and “sex” are alarmingly similar. Woops.

Tutankhamun on display.

I thought this was cool. Until Sunday it was estimated that less than 50 people had seen the face of Tutankhamun since the discovery of his tomb. The body went on display 85 years to the day after it was discovered. The archaeologist who did the CT scan was so excited. They quoted him as saying “If you look at his face, you will feel the story of the discovery and you will feel the magic of this king,” and “With his beautiful buck teeth, the tourists will see a little bit of the smile from the face of the golden boy.” Hehe. This article shows a facial reconstruction.
Also, the royal penis is fine.

I’d like to visit the Valley of the Kings someday.

I forgot to watch House tonight. Boo.

Alanis has joined the cast of “Radio Free Albemuth.”

I started watching Jericho. I’m cooking up a plan on how to secure this residence hall in case of nuclear fallout.

Also, I’m seeing Nickel Creek in the front row tomorrow. Woohoo!
